THE CREATION OF SMRS DESIGN
Founded by designer Rikhil Amin, SMRS Design was created out of talent, determination, and happenstance. In 2016, Rikhil purchased a townhouse just off Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida. But after designing the interior, Rikhil made the decision to rent the property rather than live in it. Rikhil’s tenant fell in love with the property and asked him to design her next property—and SMRS Design was born.
What began as luxury rentals and property management quickly grew into interior design services, catching the attention of the local real estate market. At the request of local real estate professionals, Rikhil expanded SMRS Design’s services to include luxury home staging. But while tirelessly performing design work for clients and real estate professionals, he continued to purchase and renovate other properties, gaining impressive returns on investment. Both his talent for design and market savviness led to the design and build of the company’s flagship project, Il Fenice at 1252 Via Del Mar, which hits the market mid-July and is featured in this year’s Parade of Homes Orlando.
SMRS FOUNDER, RAKHIL AMIN
Rilhil Amin was raised in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida, but his wanderlust didn’t keep him there for long. Travel was Rikhil most influential education. He would jet away to far-off destinations and luxurious locales whenever he had the chance, often on lengthy trips. To date, Rikhil has traveled to over 50 countries and 200+ epicenters of luxury hospitality. He found himself fascinated by these hotels and began to study them intently.
Rikhil wanted to understand the science of luxury design. How could something as simple as Langham Hotel’s signature Ginger Flower scent entice him to splurge on a $500 per night room? Rikhil began to spend hours in studying the elements of high design in luxury hotels, from the lobbies to the suites. He’s spent months analyzing and scrutinizing properties the world over—The Langham, The Siam, Hotel Principe di Savoia—and returned home an adept designer.
